Slidebank is a repository for the following types of files:
PowerPoint
PDF
Word
Excel
Video files (mp4)
You may want to download files for the following reasons:
For your own purposes, e.g. you have a presentation to deliver
In order to update the file and put a new version into Slidebank
This article will deal with downloading files into your browser for your own purposes. For more information about updating files, take a look at the article here.
Downloading files from the library
Each file you see in the content library has a set of file options, which you can access by clicking the three dots next to the file name.
To download the file, click on the three dots and select 'Download File(s)'.
This will bring up options for the type of file download you want to do.
Your file editing rights will determine the options you are shown here. For instance, you will only see the option to 'Checkout and download the file for editing' if you are the file owner, or if you've been given the permission to update that particular file.
To download the file for use offline, you simply need to select the PowerPoint or PDF option, and the file will download into your browser.
For more information on Checkout and Download for Editing, see the article on Updating files.
Downloading from the main windows
You can also download a file that already exists in the library, and slides in your slide selection, via the main windows in Slidebank.
The top window shows the slides belonging to the files that you see in the content library.
The bottom window is your selection of slides that you've built based on slides in the library.
You can download the entire file in the top window by clicking 'Download' above the slide tiles there.
You can also download your slide selections from the selection window (bypassing saving the file into Slidebank if you wish). This will turn your slide selection into a single new PowerPoint file, ready for download.
Remember, you won't receive automatic content updates for your slide selection unless you also save your selection as a new Virtual presentation into the library as well as downloading it.
For more information on Virtual presentations, see the article on 'Types of Presentation File in Slidebank'.
If you don't see either of the above Download buttons in your interface, it may be that your ability to download files has been disabled, in which case you'll need to speak to your Slidebank Administrator.
