Slidebank File Types

Slidebank can be used to store more than just PowerPoint files

Updated over 2 years ago

Slidebank is primarily an application designed to store, manage, search, re-purpose and distribute PowerPoint files securely. It does this with enhanced features such as a visual slide sorter for combining slides into new presentations, file versioning and the tracking of presentations sent via email.

However, Slidebank is more than just a PowerPoint management system. To enable you to store all your project collateral in one place, it can be used as a central repository for other file types too. These all benefit from the same user-level gated access as your PowerPoint materials, so you can continue to share securely.

Here's a list of the types of files beyond PowerPoint that you can store in Slidebank:

Excel Files

Upload Excel spreadsheets in Slidebank, just as you would a PowerPoint presentation, by dragging and dropping your file(s) into the content library.

Once in your library, you can set access rights for your Excel files, which will determine which users can see and download them.

PDF Files

Not only can you store your PDF files in Slidebank, you can also export your PowerPoint presentations and new slide selections as PDF, and Slidebank will convert them for you.

To store PDF files that you have already created offline, simply upload them as you would a normal PowerPoint file.

Slidebank will let you tag your PDF files with metadata to make advanced search possible, though Slidebank will also read the content of your PDF files to display them in simple search results.

Slidebank will display pages from PDF files in the search results, so you can drag and drop relevant content into your new slide selection. You can create new PDF files by re-combining the pages of existing PDF files, or you can mix and match slides and PDF pages, before deciding whether to save your new document as a PDF file or as a PowerPoint presentation.

Word Documents

Similar to Excel files, Slidebank will store and distribute Word documents to the audiences you allow. Slidebank will treat these files as whole documents to be uploaded and downloaded; to drag and drop individual pages into a new selection, the document would first need to be saved as a PDF.

JPEG images

Slidebank will let you upload JPEG images as stand alone images or in bulk. On upload, it turns each separate image into a single PowerPoint slide, which can then be added to new slide selections. By applying metadata to these slides, you can effectively create a searchable image library that can be added to new presentations.

Slides containing the image(s) can then be downloaded from the resulting PowerPoint files, either singly using a Slidebank slide selection, or as a complete PowerPoint deck. Separate image files are then obtained by first chosing the 'Save As' option under the 'File' menu in PowerPoint, then chosing to savr them as either 'JPG' or 'PNG' files using the drop-down file-type menu.

MP4 Video Files

MP4 video clips can be uploaded to Slidebank, ready to include in new presentations. As with images, these files can be tagged with metadata to make them searchable. They can be played within the Slidebank viewer and shared with link of email recipients to view online.

There are some natural file size limitations for all files types in Slidebank.
