Single Sign-On (SSO) Login Error

Why Cannot a Newly-added User Log in?

Updated over a year ago

"We added a user and gave them a role but they see this error and cannot log in"

This is a message from the Microsoft Azure website that your company uses for Single Sign-On (SSO authentication) - not from Slidebank. It means that the new user has not yet been given permission in Azure to use the SSO service linking to Slidebank. Please check your Azure security settings to add the correct user permissions to the Azure database.

Here are some brief details from our SSO Guide that may help:-

  1. You may need to assign access in Azure to allow SSO access.

  2. Launch a new browser and enter https://companyname.slidebank.com where companyname must be replaced with the name of your Slidebank account.

  3. If you see an error related to access being blocked, you will need to return to the Azure portal to assign access to specific users or groups.

    1. In the Manage section of the Azure application’s menu, click Users and Groups.

    2. Click Add user/group.

    3. Depending on your Active Directory plan level, you will be able to add groups or individual users, then click Asign.

    4. Try the Slidebank link again: https://companyname.slidebank.com where companyname must be replaced with the name of your Slidebank account.

  4. If you see an Access Denied message, Slidebank has been unable to match the email address of the Azure user with the email address of a Slidebank user.

    1. Check that the corresponding user account has the same email address as the Azure user account.

    2. If Slidebank does not have the user set up, create a new user in Slidebank Setup / Manage Users.

  5. This completes the set up overview for Slidebank SSO using Azure. However, please request the Slidebank SSO setup & features Guide if you need more detail.

NOTE: this is just a possible solution, you should ensure that your Azure security settings are correct for your organization.
