Folder Restrictions

Why does it say "partial upload restrictions" under one of my folders?

Updated over 2 years ago

The visibility of a file in Slidebank always depends on its Access Permissions, but it is also possible to place some Upload and Save restrictions on folders. These are useful, for example, to allow or prevent users from either uploading or saving materials into some folders but not others.

To switch these restrictions on, first click a folder's menu (the three dots), select 'Folder Permissions' then choose 'Upload' or 'Save' from the two options shown.

Upload

Impose Upload restrictions, whereby any users de-selected will be fobbidden to upload to this folder:

Note: All users are selected by default, meaning there are no Upload restrictions. Also, User Abilities may override these settings, so if you want a user to Upload to this folder, they'll need their 'Upload Files' Ability switched ON to upload.

Save

Impose Save restrictions, whereby de-selected users will be forbidden to Save to this folder:

Note: All users are selected by default, meaning there are no Save restrictions.
Again, a user's Abilities may override these settings so, if you want a user to Save to this folder, their 'Save to Personal Folder Only' Ability must be OFF, and their 'Save Master Presentations' and/or 'Save Virtual Presentations' Ability must be ON.

Once set, the various types of restriction are shown in red underneath that folder in the library:

As with file Access Permissions, Administrators can impose folder restrictions on a single user, on a Role-by-Role basis or for an entire Department.
